Quantum of Solace

I must say I still feel the void after watching the premiere.

Casino Royalle in Martin Campbell’s hand had clothed James Bond in a new and fresh tuxedo. Many had doubt Daniel Craig’ ability in performing this new image. I remembered looking at the commercial and decided that Pierce Brosnan was so ‘much more handsome’ and fit my Bond image than Craig.

Surprise…surprise, Daniel Craig blue eyes and strict lips proved all the suspicions to be wrong. He plays it cool, and do all the difficult scenes whole heartedly. The storyline, plot, dialoque, actors, all the ingredients was nothing but supporting to the new Bond characters in Craig.

Unfortunately, we could only scarcely feel the smoothness of Bond intelligent work and intriguing Bond charms in Quantum of Solace. The secret service has no longer secrecy in his actions. Bond has become an ‘ordinary’ field agent with cars and boats and planes to crash and list of names to kill. The ’short-double meaning-dialogue’ was still there, but filled with pain and threat, leaving a small space for humor and sexy conversations.

If Marc Forster want to draw an image of Bond as a cold and disappointed man, he succeeded. But to give the audience all those flashing views from the camera inside the vehicles is not helping. And again, I miss my cool but gentle Bond, smart in suite and considerate to ladies. Most of all….I miss the classic “Bond…., James Bond”
